Usually the approach and treatment, is tailored to your individual needs, and it aims to facilitate positive changes. All changes take place through the power of the mind, and there are many treatments, techniques and methods used for this.

Why we do the things we do? What motivates us? Why do some people become stronger from traumatic experiences, and others let it become their downfall? Why some people diminish from relatively minor illnesses, while others rise from misfortune, and come back stronger than ever? Our health can be a bit of a puzzle, and sometimes all it takes, is finding that missing piece. We are often held back by attitudes and beliefs that lessen our self-esteem, block our creativity, and limit our resourcefulness. TALKING THERAPIES

Talking therapies can help you work out how to deal with negative thoughts and feelings and make positive changes. They can help people who are feeling stressed, distressed or people who feel they need a change, and would like some help. Many people find it helpful to talk problems through with a friend or family member, but sometimes they cannot help, and then one needs to talk to a professional. Talking therapies can help you work out where your negative feelings and ideas come from and why they are there, and can help people gain better control of their lives and improve confidence.

ENERGY THERAPIES

Energy therapies are alternative methods that aim to create a state of balance, health and peace in a person. An underlying theory to energy therapies involves energy blockages or imbalances that lead to illness and disease. Benefits of combined therapy/change work are: take control of your life, live your life free of any restrictions, believe in yourself, feel worthy and deserving of whatever you want, improve confidence, free your mind, and make the powerful positive changes you want!

The various terms used to describe talking therapies, often mean different things to different people. Some use them to describe the level of training of the professional delivering the therapy, but sometimes there is no link between a therapist’s training, and the name of the therapy they offer. Some therapists train in several methods, and may combine a few approaches if they feel this is appropriate.

SUPPORT

Holistic therapies work by taking a whole-person approach to a problem, using a range of theories and practices. These therapies explore your relationship with different parts of yourself (such as your body, mind, emotions, behaviour and spirituality) and to others (for example family, friends, society or culture) and support you to grow and live life to the full.

Eye Movement Therapy is recognised internationally as an excellent tool for emotional change. It explores undesirable emotions and ways of being, and by teaching resources while inside the problem state, it brings a person more into the present enabling them to stay out of past negative experiences. Essentially, this method involves holding the issue in mind whilst the eyes are moved in different directions. The result is often that the imagery loses its emotional impact and becomes less upsetting.

Touch Therapy is a healing method and when applied it generates slow brain wave activity i.e. Delta waves, along with soothing brain chemicals. When something traumatic happens, it can be recorded in the brain permanently in order to keep us safe, but the consequences of this are not always helpful or wanted. When Touch Therapy is applied to the upper arm, palms and face within certain processes, it delinks the traumatic memory from the distress, so you can remember what happened but it doesn’t bother you anymore.’

Grief Support uses a set of tools to address loss no matter what the cause. Counselling is useful to help people discover why they feel a certain way, but the human heart is not rational and doesn’t respond to intellect. Therefore, in order to heal hearts, we need to take actions that address the heart, rather than the head, to allow the release of the pain, the end to all those “I wish I’d said/not said, I wish I’d done/not done” that tend to keep grievers trapped on the mental hamster wheel of pain.

Life Coaching is aimed at helping people meet goals in their personal/working lives by guiding them in the right direction i.e. as a sports coach might do for a sportsperson, although the methods used by individual life coaches will vary greatly, with NLP being the most popular. Coaching is a beneficial process, allowing people to break their negative belief patterns, act more decisively, and set clear goals towards achieving what they want from life. Anyone visiting a coach needs to be open to new ideas and ways of doing things, and needs to commit to the process.
