TIME LINE THERAPY

Time Line Therapy or TLT, works in conjunction with NLP, and is one of the most effective tools in creating fast, long-lasting changes in behaviour. Deriving from NLP, TLT is based on the premise that our memories are stored in a linear i.e. a timeline pattern. 

Time Line therapists use different techniques to help release beliefs and negative emotions linked to past experiences. It is thought to be especially useful for those struggling with depression, anxiety and stress.

It is known that our past experiences, and the memories that go with them affect how we approach present day situations. Furthermore, when these experiences and memories, prevent us from expressing ourselves, they stop us from achieving the results we want, and TLT techniques can assist us to change all that, via three major modalities:

LIMITING DECISIONS

To let go of Limiting Decisions from the past, because these decisions and beliefs, have come about as a result of past experiences, and have stayed with you and limited your life in many ways.

In short TLT is a collection of techniques that allow you to gain emotional control over your life. Inappropriate emotional reactions, such as bursts of anger, periods of apathy, depression, sadness, anxiety, and chronic fear, are responsible for preventing people from achieving the quality of life they desire. Limiting decisions, such as ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘I’ll never be rich’, or ‘I don’t deserve a great marriage’, create false limitations and hamper your ability to create attainable goals and outcomes.

Eye Movement Therapy is recognised internationally as an excellent tool for emotional change. It explores undesirable emotions and ways of being, and by teaching resources while inside the problem state, it brings a person more into the present enabling them to stay out of past negative experiences. Essentially, this method involves holding the issue in mind whilst the eyes are moved in different directions. The result is often that the imagery loses its emotional impact and becomes less upsetting.

Touch Therapy is a healing method and when applied it generates slow brain wave activity i.e. Delta waves, along with soothing brain chemicals. When something traumatic happens, it can be recorded in the brain permanently in order to keep us safe, but the consequences of this are not always helpful or wanted. When Touch Therapy is applied to the upper arm, palms and face within certain processes, it delinks the traumatic memory from the distress, so you can remember what happened but it doesn’t bother you anymore.’

Grief Support uses a set of tools to address loss no matter what the cause. Counselling is useful to help people discover why they feel a certain way, but the human heart is not rational and doesn’t respond to intellect. Therefore, in order to heal hearts, we need to take actions that address the heart, rather than the head, to allow the release of the pain, the end to all those “I wish I’d said/not said, I wish I’d done/not done” that tend to keep grievers trapped on the mental hamster wheel of pain.

Life Coaching is aimed at helping people meet goals in their personal/working lives by guiding them in the right direction i.e. as a sports coach might do for a sportsperson, although the methods used by individual life coaches will vary greatly, with NLP being the most popular. Coaching is a beneficial process, allowing people to break their negative belief patterns, act more decisively, and set clear goals towards achieving what they want from life. Anyone visiting a coach needs to be open to new ideas and ways of doing things, and needs to commit to the process.
